They are often required as a guarantee of contractual performance and, if all goes according to plan, the instruments should eventually expire without being drawn down. These instruments constitute contingent liabilities (until they are called) and their on demand nature creates risks for clients. Our charges for guarantees or stand-by letters of credit, and related security requirements will be advised on a case-by-case basis. Discounting of bank documents and other Financial Instruments. Bank documents from major banks accepted, medium size banks can also be accepted. For buyers of fresh cut bank guarantees, or standby letters of credit. The documents of course have not been issued yet, but this can only be made when the buyer will either: Present a proof of funds in advance from a major bank, or a bank capability letter. If you have an already issued (seasoned) standby letter of credit (SLC), bank guarantee (BG), or other financial instruments from an acceptable bank, or confirmed by an acceptable bank, then we could buy, discount, or finance the document. The discount rate will depend on: Issuing bank Maturity Verbiage in the document We prefer to have a SLC or bank guarantee with an amount of US$10 Million to US$500 Million. We will need a copy of the document, and a letter of intent from the borrower, using their letterhead, requesting for funding, and including the following points: The borrower’s name, contact person and address. The amount of the standby letter of credit or bank guarantee. Date when the standby letter of credit or bank guarantee was issued and maturity. The purpose of the loan. The name and country of the guarantee bank (bank issuing bank guarantee / SLC). If the bank guarantee has not been issued yet, the issuing bank has to write a letter to the borrower stating that they are WILLING to issue a bank guarantee in favor of this borrower. If the bank guarantee or SLC has already been issued, please send us a clear FAX copy.
